Walter's Crisis: Part 3 was the sixth episode of Season 5 of Maude, and the 99th overall episode in the series. Directed by Hal Cooper, the episode, which was developed for TV as a teleplay written by Bill Davenport from a story written by Donald King, originally aired on CBS-TV on October 25, 1976. It was the third part and the conclusion of a three part episode story arc.

Synopsis[]
Walter takes a sleeping pill to help with his depression, but he ends up swallowing more than he should.
Storyline[]
Part 3 and conclusion of three part story. Walter lands in the hospital where he is revived after swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills. Maude and Arthur try to talk him into voluntarily admitting himself to mental facility which he at first objects to but finally agrees is the best thing but Walter soon uses the place as a way to get away from his financial problems and not face them.
