Synopsis[]

The family is relieved to learn that Archie is safe and sound - he had been sidetracked at a podiatrist's convention. Archie's reaction is priceless when he arrives home to find plenty of wackiness going on - hula hoops, ballroom dancing and Mike trying to make good on Gloria's dare that they hold a kiss for hours and hours.

Episode summary[]

This is the third and final episode of a three-part story arc that finds Edith preparing for a Tupperware party while Archie is away at a lodge convention in Buffalo. Edith receives word that Archie has been located (it seems he got on the wrong bus and ended up having such a good time at a podiatrists' convention that he never made it to his own).

Edith, Gloria and Mike decide to have a party to celebrate his return; when Archie returns, he finds Edith spinning a hula hoop, Mike and Gloria struggling to maintain an hour-long kiss, George and Louise Jefferson jitterbugging and Irene Lorenzo standing on her head.

After a feud with producer Norman Lear about his contract negotiations, Carroll O'Connor finally returns in this episode.
