Synopsis[]
Archie punches a lodge member after he makes racial remarks about Mrs. Canby, his black housekeeper, during a confrontation at the grocery store. Archie must write him a written apology or face expulsion from the lodge.
Storyline[]
Archie and Mrs. Canby, his black housekeeper, go to the supermarket together. In an ironic twist, some folks at the store are not happy as they think Mrs. Canby and Archie are a couple, as Archie gets to see first-hand what being on the receiving end of prejudiced attitudes are like, as one of Archie's friends, Gordy Burns (Pat McNamara), who's the head of the lodge, sees them there and instead of just staring, as most of the other shoppers who were taken aback by Archie and Mrs. Canby shopping together were doing, he becomes vulgar and starts hurling insulting words towards both Archie and Mrs.Canby.
Archie then punches Gordy after he makes racial remarks about Mrs. Canby during the confrontation at the grocery store. Because of the incident, Archie is required to write head lodge member Gordy, who insisted, a written apology or face expulsion from the lodge, as Barney convinces him to do.
Eager to remain a lodge brother, Archie agrees to write the apology, until Mrs. Canby reveals a painful memory from her past, which makes Archie reevaluate his own prejudices and see what is truly the right thing to do.
