Maude & Walter, Vivian & Arthur visit New York. Maude and Vivian visit a game show recording and are chosen to be contestants.==Storyline== Maude and Walter and Arthur and Vivian take a trip to New York City to celebrate Vivian's birthday. Vivian is excited about being considered for a contestant in a game show 'Beat the Devil' and Maude will have none of it that is until Maude's greed slowly gets out of hand and soon both Vivian and Maude are making fools of themselves on television.

Did You Know?[]

  • Conrad Janis (Lyle Bellamy) and Billy Sands (Mario) would appear a year later on the other All In The Family spin-off The Jeffersons in the same episode, "Jefferson Airplane."
  • Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan (Maude and Vivian) appear (and win big-almost) on the game show "Beat the Devil." On an episode of NBC-TV's The Golden Girls, Miss Arthur and Miss McClanahan compete on the game show "Grab That Dough" against co-stars Betty White and Estelle Getty (Rose and Sophia). Once again, they come close to a bonanza and end up with nothing. Well-almost; they took home a lifetime supply of soup. Also, Conrad Janis, the smarmy game show host in this episode, also appeared on The Golden Girls as the bandleader for the episode featuring the girls trying to eliminate one another in a charity dance competition.

Factual errors

Vivian wins by answering that Humphrey Bogart was the model for the Gerber Baby as an infant. That is an urban legend. The real Gerber Baby is now a woman.
