About James

Before embarking on a long career as a character and bit role actor, James boxed in the 1930s and throughout the 1940's under the nickname "Jimmy Casino", who he accumulated a not so impressive record of 27-27-14 (with 13 KOs) as a rather diminutive (he stood at 5'8") light heavyweight before wisely changing careers.

As a Hollywood character actor, he mostly appeared in largely uncredited bit roles, which included appearances in the films, All American (1953), Flight to Hong Kong (1956), Al Capone (1959), Birdman of Alcatraz (1962), The Cincinnati Kid (1965), The Skin Game (1971), the Jerry Lewis comedy Hook, Line and Sinker (1969) and the Sylvester Stallone film Paradise Alley (1978). His numerous TV show guest appearances included The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Gunsmoke, Cimarron Strip, The Monkees, The Lucy Show, I Dream of Jeannie and Bonanza.

James died on September 6, 1999 at the age of 78 in his hometown, Los Angeles, California.
