Gloria: The First Day was the original pilot shot for All in the Family spinoff series Gloria. Written by noted AITF writers Patt Shea, Harriet Weiss and Joe Gannon, the episode, which was directed by Paul Bogart, which CBS-TV refused to pick up, was originally unaired, it was later made part of the Archie Bunker's Place syndication and DVD package. It is, as part of "ABP's" episode package, to be the 29th and final episode in its third season, also the 73rd series episode.

Synopsis[]
Archie appears at the beginning of this episode in which he drives Gloria and Joey to their new place. Gloria finds out she has a lot to learn to be a veterinary assistant, but Dr. Adams is willing to help her along.
Storyline[]
Archie drives Gloria and Joey to Dr. Adams’ house, Gloria new boss; who is owner and head veterinarian of the veterinary clinic she works for. Dr. Adams also lets Gloria and Joey be his roommates, with the rule of no pets. Meanwhile, a rich lady leaves her pure-bred show dog's non-pure-bred puppies at the office, and tells Gloria that Dr. Adams will destroy them for her. So it is up to Gloria and Joey try rescue them.

- This is the unaired pilot for the TV series "Gloria", edited to be an episode of "Archie Bunker's Place" in syndication. The original unaired episode can be found as a bonus feature on the All In The Family complete series DVD set.
- The title refers to Gloria Bunker Stivic who returns home after her divorce from Mike "Meathead" Stivic with their son Joey Stivic.
Alternate versions[]
The original, unaired version, with opening and closing titles as "Gloria", was never aired on CBS, but still exists in its original form, and was released in 2013 as part of the complete "All in the Family" series DVD set.
