Synopsis[]

Gloria befriends a mildly retarded stockboy named George who works at Ferguson's Market. While delivering groceries one day to the Bunkers, Archie keeps George at the house, asking him stupid questions and getting him to do things for his amusement. When George loses his job and then doesn't return home all afternoon, George's father shows up at the Bunkers, demanding an explanation. Eventually, George shows he still has some savvy (not to mention abilities) by proving he can successfully seek and obtain work when he gets a new job.

Summary[]

George Bushmill, a retarded grocery stockboy whom Gloria befriends, helps Gloria carry her groceries home from the store he works at as a stockboy. Intimidated by George's mental handicap, Archie unintentionally gets the boy fired from his job by convincing him to "relax for a few minutes" causing him to be late about a half hour in returning back to work from his lunch break. George also disappeared after Archie told Michael and Gloria "I know how to talk to a D-U-M-M-Y" in front of George's face. Before Archie learns his inevitable lesson, he is neatly put in his place by George's dad; explaining that George's brain suffered a loss of oxygen at birth, Mr. Bushmill turns to Archie and asks "What's your excuse?" After disappearing the whole afternoon after getting let go from his job at Ferguson's market, George arrives back at the Bunker residence with good news for all except a bewildered and shocked Archie: he's landed a new job, working with Archie on the loading dock at Pendergast Tool & Die!
