Edith's Christmas Story is the 15th episode of the fourth season and the 76th overall episode of All In The Family. The Season 4 episode first aired on CBS-TV on December 22, 1973. Scripted by Austin and Irma Kalish from a story by Don Nicholl, the episode was directed by John Rich.
Synopsis
Just in time for Christmas, Edith reveals to Gloria a devastating secret: She has a lump in her breast, and worries she may need a mastectomy.
Summary
Archie and Mike can't understand why the usually ebullient Edith is unable to get into the Christmas spirit. Only when she is alone with Gloria does Edith reveal what is preying on her mind: She thinks she may have breast cancer. It is up to next-door neighbor Irene Lorenzo to restore Edith's customary good spirits -- and she does so by making a surprising revelation of her own.
Note: Scottie McGregor appears as a hospital nurse. Betty Garrett appears as Irene Lorenzo and Vincent Gardenia appears as Frank Lorenzo.
