David Brewster, a friend of Mike and Gloria who moved to Canada during the Vietnam War to escape the U.S. Army Draft who visits them at the Bunker home on Christmas Day in the Season 7 episode of All in the Family titled "The Draft Dodger" (#15). The part of David was played by Renny Temple.
David, a friend of Mike and Gloria who moved to Canada during the Vietnam War to evade the U.S. Army Draft, visits them at the Bunker home on Christmas Eve. When they reveal the truth about David to Archie and Edith, Archie angrily confronts David over this and treated him harshly. One of Archie's lodge buddies, Pinky Peterson (Eugene Roche), who was also eating Christmas dinner with the Bunkers, and who also lost a son in Vietnam, calmly and respectfully disagrees with Archie's opinion about the war and sympathizes with David's reasons for dodging the draft, and defends David and said he would be honored to have dinner with him, as would have his son, were he still alive.
