Synopsis
Archie finds a swastika painted on his front door. Archie thinks juveniles were simply playing a prank but when "Hebrew Defense Association" (echoing the Jewish Defense League) member Paul Benjamin (Gregory Sierra) offers the family "protection", they quickly find their home was mistaken for that of a Jewish school board member who lives nearby. As violence seems imminent, Archie surprisingly takes an immediate shine to the charismatic activist and his reactionary tactics but Mike is appalled by the violent escalation of their methods. The episode ends abruptly, when Paul is killed by a car bomb in front of the Bunker home.
Summary
Prejudiced as he may be, Archie Bunker is certainly no Nazi. Thus, he becomes shocked and outraged when a swastika is painted on the Bunkers' front door. It turns out that Archie's home has been mistaken for the residence of a Jewish School board member named David Bloom. A Jewish extremist named Paul Benjamin (Gregory Sierra) pays a visit to the Bunkers after mistaking it for Bloom's house. Surprisingly, Archie finds that he has much in common with Paul in the form of his radical political views-- but their blossoming friendship is abruptly ended when Paul is blown up in his car.
